About
I am Marcela Perrusquía a Multidisciplinary Artist and educator based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Currently, an artist in residence at the Treehouse, NDSM.
I am originally from Mexico where I first studied Medicine, followed by Fine Arts at the Autonomous University of Queretaro.
Drawing inspiration from nature, human behaviour, and science, I explore the complexities of the mind and emotions, seeking to unravel their essence. I do it so, through various mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture and installations. By exploring the intersection between surreal and real worlds, I challenge the notion of reality. I hope that, via introspective creativity, my thought-provoking artworks stimulate thought and encourage personal interpretations, fostering opportunities for learning and emotional resonance.
I am interested in themes, such as mental health, technology and social media, women’s stories and empowerment, and immigration.
My most recent work ‘Fluidity’ focuses on the dynamic interplay between movement and adaptability, exploring how these elements interact to create a sense of transformation and evolution.
